The attic above this 1960s ranch home near Fullerton College had the original insulation still in place: compressed, dusty, and doing almost nothing. R-19 that once tested like R-19 was down to R-8 in some bays. We removed every bit of it, air sealed all top plates and penetrations, and blew in fresh Owens Corning AttiCat fiberglass to R-38. The homeowners noticed the upstairs held temperature within a day, and their summer AC bill dropped noticeably that first August.
Spray Foam Insulation in a Hot Fullerton Attic
This attic reached 140 degrees in July. The home had ductwork running through it, which meant the AC was fighting the attic itself. We applied Icynene open-cell spray foam directly to the roofline, sealing the entire envelope and bringing the ducts inside conditioned space. The attic now runs within 10 degrees of the house. That’s the kind of fix that changes how a whole home feels, not just one room.
Blown-In Insulation for a Drafty Fullerton Living Room
The living room in this Fullerton home was always cold in winter. The walls had no insulation at all, typical for a 1950s build. We dense-packed Knauf EcoBatt into the wall cavities from the exterior, patched the siding clean, and the room held heat for the first time since the owners bought the place. They told us they stopped wearing sweaters indoors by February.
Crawl Space Encapsulation & Vapor Barrier in Fullerton
Musty smell in the house. Floors always cold. We got under the house and found exposed dirt, fiberglass batts falling out of the floor joists, and moisture up the foundation walls. We removed the failed insulation, sealed the crawl space with a 12-mil vapor barrier, and insulated the perimeter. Within two weeks the smell was gone. Within a month the floors were warm enough to walk on barefoot.
Attic Air Sealing & Radiant Barrier in Fullerton
The upstairs of this two-story Fullerton home ran 8 degrees warmer than downstairs all summer. Warm air was pouring up through unsealed can lights, wall top plates, and plumbing penetrations, while the underside of the roof deck was radiating heat straight into the attic insulation. We sealed every penetration with foam, then installed a radiant barrier on the rafters knock back the radiant heat. Upstairs finally held the same temperature as the rest of the house.
Attic Cleaning & Rodent Proofing in Fullerton
This home had a rat problem the owners didn’t know about until they heard scratching at 3 a.m. Once the rodents were gone, we removed all the contaminated insulation, vacuumed the attic thoroughly, sanitized the decking, and then sealed every entry point we could find: gaps at the eaves, around the HVAC chase, and where the roof met the fascia. Fresh GreenFiber blown-in insulation went back in. Clean, sealed, and quiet.
